Captain Abhinandan Varthaman, the Indian Air Force ace pilot was honoured with the Vir Chakra award on November 22. Captain Abhinandan Varthaman was awarded the Vir Chakra by President Ram Nath Kovind at the Rashtrapati Bhawan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh were present for the ceremony. Varthaman was recently promoted to the rank of Group Captain. Varthaman shot down a Pakistani F-16 fighter aircraft during aerial combat on February 27. This was a day after the Balakot airstrike. Captain Abhinandan Varthaman was taken into custody by the Pakistan Army. They were forced to release Captain Abhinandan Varthaman on March 1. Watch the video to know more.
