The hawkers are also caught in a dilemma due to the price hike. A stall owner at the hawker centre said, almost half of the hawkers here have closed their businesses.
After the movement control order, customers have decreased significantly causing them a loss of income. And now, with the price hike, their hands are tied and are forced to adjust their prices to survive.
