Deputy Education Minister Mah Hang Soon said that the number of students who dropped out of school has decreased compared to in 2018.

He said 21,316 students dropped out of school from March 2020 to July 2021 and this was lower than the 34,074 reported in 2018.

He added that the ministry was taking steps to ensure that students remain in school, which includes discussions with parents to find out reasons that students are not attending and addressing the problem.
