मकर सक्रांति सूर्य के उत्तरायण होने का पर्व 14 जनवरी को मनाया जाएगा। इस दिन सूर्य देव धनु राशि से निकलकर मकर राशि में दोपहर 2 बजकर 32 मिनट पर प्रवेश करेंगे। इसकी वजह से पुण्‍यकाल सूर्य अस्‍त 5 बजकर 55 मिनट तक यानी 3 घंटे 37 मिनट तक रहेगा। इस साल संक्रांति का वाहन बाघ, उपवाहन अश्व और हाथों में गदा रूपी शस्त्र है। ज्‍योतिषियों का कहना है कि मकर सक्रांति का सामान्य फल विद्वान और शिक्षित के लिए लाभकारी रहेगा। अनिष्‍टकारी न होने के बावजूद भी डर और चिंता का वातावरण बनेगा। महंगाई पर नियंत्रण रहेगा। इस साल मकर सक्रांति इस बार पौष शुक्ल पक्ष की द्वादशी तिथि के दिन 14 जनवरी को शुक्ल और ब्रह्म योग के मंगलकारी संयोग में मनाई जाएगी। वहीं मतमतांतर के साथ मकर संक्रांति का पर्वकाल 15 जनवरी को भी माना जाएगा। इस दिन रोहिणी नक्षत्र रहेगा। शास्‍त्रों के अनुसार सूर्य के अस्‍त होने पहले जिस दिन सूर्य राशि परिवर्तन करता है उसी दिन उसका पर्व मनाया जाता है। विश्वविजय, निर्णय सागर, चिंताहरण आदि पंचांगों में इसके चलते ये पर्व 14 जनवरी का बताया गया है। उदया तिथि की महत्ता के अनुसार भी लोग 15 जनवरी को सक्रांति स्नान-दान मत-मतांतर करेंगे।
