Hub Bench(Press) Rows

Views 1

Back in the 1980s when l started lifting, the Gold's Gym Training Encyclopedia(1984) showed ROWING from a very high bench aptly named Bench Rows. The intent was to get some Bent Rowing that finished with a solid arch of the entire back without the legs taking over. Since it was generally a Bodybuilding move, not having the legs anchored wasn't a big deal. A couple of decades later and it seemed to have crept into the strength world now called the Seal Row. I had moved from Bodybuilding into Powerlifting & Strongman and tried some heavy Bench Rows but IMMEDIATELY realized my flailing legs needed to be reined in. I set up my Bench perpindicular to my Rack and pushed the bottoms of my feet into the pin. Basically, it looked like an upside-down Bench Press so l started calling it a BP Row. Being able to not only anchor the feet but to have them push as my arms pull makes the lift much more productive as a whole body strength movement. Give BP Rows a try, you just might like them...l am Hub Lifting a pair of waxed 2nd Gen WEIDER 45lb plates. God Bless!!
