With an alarming 18,161 adult population from the Orang Asli community in Malaysia tested positive for Covid-19 and 196 among them died from the virus as of Feb 28, Khairy Jamaluddin called for a more consistent outreach vaccination programme for the community to ensure that no one is left behind from the National Covid-19 Immunisation Program (PICK).
The Health Minister said that after visiting the Orang Asli Gombak Hospital to review the implementation of the National Covid-19 Child Immunisation Programme (PICKids) in the area on Friday (Mar 4), added that the slow uptake in booster shots among the Orang Asli community may be attributed to the semi-nomadic lifestyles.
