On March 31, BBC reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin said that shelling of Mariupol, the besieged Ukrainian city, will only end when Ukrainian troops surrender. Russia later proposed a one-day ceasefire for March 31, 2022. As reported by BBC, the defence ministry said the ceasefire would start at 10:00 local time (08:00 BST) & would allow people to travel westwards to Zaporizhzhia vie the Russian-controlled port of Berdyansk.
