A new study published on May 4 in the journal
'Environmental Science and Technology' found that they
were also detected in many products meant for children.
Out of 93 products tested, 54 contained fluorine, a potential indicator of PFAS.
Of 34 products with environmental certifications like , "non-toxic" and "eco-friendly," , 21 were found to contain fluorine.
'The Independent' reports
that scientists still don't
know much about PFAS.
What they do know is that PFAS break down
incredibly slowly and are known as
"forever chemicals" that can persist for generations. .
Last year, the EPA
started a multi-year plan to
research and regulate PFAS.
