As the clock on the Spasskaya Tower struck 10 am, a military parade began at Moscow’s Red Square to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Russian Defence Minister, Sergei Shoigu and the Commander-in-Chief of the ground forces, Oleg Salyukov welcomed the parade crew. The mechanized line of equipment was headed by the Legendary T-34. It is the most mass-produced vehicle in the tank building history and also the best mid-sized tank of the Second World War.
It has worn the brunt of several battles and has today become a symbol of victory.
The 9th of May 1945 is a significant date in the history of Russia and the whole world. On this day, the Soviet Government announced victory after the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht, the unified armed forces of Nazi Germany.
