Grégor Kelekian was an Armenian dancer and vocalist who led a jazz band in Paris in the late 20's and early 30's. He employed some of the best of the French musicians during his brief career. The orchestra disbanded in the mid-thirties. This excellent record was made in 1929. Personnel included: Ray Allen, drums; Alix Combelle and Charles "Coco" Kiehn, tenor saxophone and clarinet; Charles Lisée, Edmond Cohanier and Roger Fisbach, alto saxophone and clarinet; Edmund Masse, banjo and guitar; Lucien Moraweck, Michel Emer and Stéphane Mougin, piano; Guy Paquinet and Léo Vauchant-Arnaud, trombone; André Pico and Gaston Lapeyronnie, trumpet; Raymond Van der Notte, bass brass, as well as Michel Warlop and Sylvio Schmidt, violin.
