Maharashtra’s political crisis saw the de-throning of Uddhav Thackeray as the chief minister. However, Thackeray before resigning signed off on the renaming of the cities of Aurangabad and Osmanabad – a long demand of many Shiv Sainiks. Aurangabad has been renamed Sambhaji Nagar and Osmanabad has been renamed Dharashiv. Thackeray also appointed Vivek Phansalkar as Mumbai Police Commissioner as Sanjay Pandey’s tenure ends on July 1.
