13 Dead After Maharashtra Government Bus Falls Into Narmada River

In a tragic incident, an MSRTC bus skidded off a slippery road and fell into Narmada River in Maharashtra. The bus was heading towards Pune from Indore when it drifted into the river after breaking the railing of the bridge. 13 people have lost their lives and rescue operations are underway to find survivors. Over 40 passengers were reportedly onboard when the accident took place. PM Modi declared Rs 2 lakh ex-gratia for kin of victims and Rs 50,000 for those injured. Madhya Pradesh CM dialed his Maharashtra counterpart and briefed him about the incident. Brake or steering failure is suspected to be the cause of the accident.
