Ark was born in 1990 in Norway when the drummer of the band TNT, John Macaluso joined the guitarist of incredible originality Tore Ostby and decided to create a band that sounded with a lot of soul united to aggressiveness and melody.
After an arduous search for a vocalist they found Jørn Lande, who sang in the band The Snakes. Rio wanted to break all barriers and clichés and make music with feeling. In 1999, the self-titled debut was released, surprising journalists in the field by mixing different rhythms and impressive melodies by Lande, which brings elements of soul music to the Ark's Prog Metal environment. The second work entitled "Burn the Sun" was to show all the ability of these musicians who joined the great bassist Randy Coven who played in Steve Vai's band and keyboardist Mats Olausson also known for playing with Yngwie Malmsteen.
Certainly Jorn Lande is one of the greatest vocalists of our time, but at the end of 2002 he left Ark to join Roland Grapow and Uli Kusch's band, Masterplan.
