The opening ceremony of the 44th Chess Olympiad commenced in Chennai on July 28. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Bollywood actor Rajinikanth and others were also present there. Contingents of the participating nations greet the audience. The Olympiad will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
