New laws to restrict MPs from switching parties will not cover members of the upper house, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob told Dewan Negara this morning.

Ismail Sabri tabled the bill in Dewan Negara today, once passed, it can be gazetted as early as August.

This comes after the constitutional amendment bill aimed at discouraging MPs from switching parties was passed by the Dewan Rakyat on July 28th.
