Black stork rescued after being grounded by heatwave in northwestern China

Police in northwestern China helped rescue an ailing black stork that apparently was forced to make an “emergency landing” when it was overcome by record heat. A villager found the fledgling resting in his yard in Shaanxi province in mid-August 2022, during the annual migration season for the endangered species.
