The Works and Transport Minister told the Parliament today desilting carried out in fiscal 2022 "is why with all the rainfall we are getting within 10,15 minutes the water is actually running off."

The Minister Sinanan made the comment as one member of the Opposition said at least one part of constituency remains under flood water.

The Minister faced questions on the estimated head of expenditure of $2.47 billion for the Works and Transport Ministry in fiscal 2023.
