International Day of the Girl Child is observed on October 11 annually. Aim is to raise awareness about the importance and potential girls hold. The focus is to highlight the need for equal opportunities for girls and help in their growth. On December 19, 2011, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring October 11, 2012 as the inaugural day.
