National Cancer Awareness Day is observed on November 7 annually. The aim is to highlight the importance of awareness about cancer prevention & early detection. The day highlights the fact that two-thirds of cancer cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, lowering the patients’ chances of survival. The observance coincides with the birth anniversary of the Nobel-prize winning scientist Marie Curie. She is remembered for the development of nuclear energy and radiotherapy for cancer treatment.
