Bangladesh is preparing to open the nation’s first underwater traffic tunnel in January 2023 after key civil infrastructure works were completed on November 26, 2022. Partially funded by China and built by a Chinese company, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Tunnel under the Karnaphuli River will cut travel time between the Anwara and Patenga in the southeastern city of Chittagong.
