O ne-third of the legendary blues rock band ZZ Top, Billy F Gibbons, joined us for a chat recently while on the road from their current tour, which ends the year with a December residency in Vegas. The 72-year-old famed guitarist says his 'brother in blues' Dusty Hill, who passed last July, instructed his bandmates to continue, and they are. With an estimated 50 million albums sold to date worldwide, their storied career is a long one. They released five albums over six years (1971's self-titled debut, 1972's Rio Grande Mud , 1973's Tres Hombres , 1975's Fandango! , and 1976's Tejas ). Then came 1983's Eliminator , signature beards, and some of MTV's most popular videos of all time, including 'Gimme All Your Lovin',' 'Sharp Dressed Man,' and 'Legs.' We chatted about the release of Raw , a live recording from their recent Netflix documentary ZZ Top: That Little Ol' Band from Texas , a new whisky, Tres Hombres, that pays homage to their Texas roots, new music, and several tour dates to come in 2023.
