Sydney has welcomed 2022 with a spectacular fireworks display over its harbour as Australians marked the arrival of the new year with a mix of parties and more subdued celebrations.

As midnight struck and 2021 retreated into history, Sydney's world-renowned New Year's Eve fireworks display began, lighting up the harbour to welcome the new year.
Organisers promised six tonnes of fireworks, 25,000 shooting effects, 9000 aerial shells and 80,000 pyrotechnic effects across two spectacular displays.

The City of Sydney manages six locations around the harbour:

Observatory Hill
Beare Park
Bicentennial Park
Giba Park
Pirrama Park
Embarkation Point
Visit the vantage point map for more information on all vantage point locations around the harbour.
