This little song bird could be winging its way up the pop charts after belting out classic tunes including disco favourite 'September' by Earth Wind & Fire.

One-year-old cockatiel Leo Valdez has taken off online garnering over 1.2 million likes and seven million views.

But it's not just seventies disco classics that Leo is in to - he covers all genres.

Owner Scarlett, who didn't wish to reveal her last name, said: "He knows The Addams Family song, Jingle Bells, The Star Spangled Banner, If you’re happy and you know it, The University of Utah fight song, Queen of the night Aria from the Magic Flute and Rue’s whistle from the Hunger Games."

Scarlett, 41, and daughter, Kassi, 17, from Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, took in rescue bird Leo - now two - when he was three-months-old.

"I grew up with a cockatiel so when Kassi wanted her own pet, we decided a cockatiel would be a great fit for her and our family," added Scarlet.

The pair teach new songs to Leo Valdez, whose full name was inspired by Rick Riordan's book series 'Heroes of Olympus', by singing along to the tunes.

Scarlett said: "When we are teaching him songs, we just whistle them over and over again and he eventually picks it up! Some take a little longer than others.

"On this particular day, Kassi was feeling extra overwhelmed with her math when she looked down and saw Leo on her shoe.

"[He was] just living his best life whistling 'September' from Earth Wind and Fire.

"She thought it was so funny that she had to record it."
