Chorzów, Polish Upper Silesia, the eve of World War II. Six boys from the working class neighborhood spend all day kicking an old ball, their greatest treasure: one of them found a torn tire at the stadium, and a young trombonist neighbor helped patch up the holes. The usual boys' fun and mischief, friendship with the "stars" of the local soccer team and trouble with the neighborhood policeman.
