After racing on day 1 of the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix in Sydney, a major weather event occurred that resulted in significant damage to the wing sails and at least one boat at the SailGP technical site. No one was seriously injured during the incident. As a result of the damage, SailGP had to cancel racing for the second day of the Sydney event.Since then, SailGP teams have been working together all day to assess the damage to the fleet and tech site at the KPMG Australia Sail Grand Prix | Sydney.A full assessment needs to be carried out to determine a full inventory of the fleet and what this means for future events.At this stage SailGP is still planning to continue with the next events - the New Zealand SailGP and the Grand Final in San Francisco.Credit: SailGP
