Mercedes has updated its GLS line of luxury SUVs, which includes the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 4MATIC and the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63 4MATIC+, which will be available for purchase in the United States later this year.
The standard GLS now features some slight styling upgrades, such as a Silver Shadow finish on the four louvers in the grille, air inlet grilles on the bumper with high-gloss black surrounds, and taillights with a signet motif of three horizontal blocks. In addition, there are two new paint options available: Twilight Blue Metallic and Manufaktur Alpine Grey Non-Metallic.
Inside, the MBUX infotainment system has been updated with new display choices, including three graphic styles - Classic, Sporty, and Discreet, and three modes - Navigation, Assistance, and Service. There are also seven color schemes to choose from, and in the Off-Road setting, the screen displays tilt angles, compass readings, and camera views from underneath the front bumper.
Mercedes has introduced new upholstery options for the GLS, such as Catalana Beige and Bahia Brown leather, and High-Gloss Brown Linden Wood and Manufaktur Piano Lacquer Flowing Lines for trim options. The GLS580 4MATIC model offers an optional Off-Road Engineering Package that includes a front skid plate and 1.2 inches of additional ground clearance.
The Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 now comes standard with ambient lighting that projects an animated brand logo, and perforated, diamond-quilted upholstery on the seats. There is also a new option of 23-inch forged wheels. The Mercedes-AMG GLS63 has gained light projectors that display an AMG-specific animation on the ground and a software update that adjusts the settings for the roll stabilization and air suspension systems. The sporty model now comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and adaptive high beams, and there are new upholstery options available - Bahia Brown/Black and Macchiato Beige/Black Nappa leather.
