Plaid Cymru’s Adam Price has stepped down from his role as leader of the party following an internal investigation that found misogyny and bullying within the party. The Carmarthen East and Dinefwr Senedd Member said he no longer had the united support of his party in his resignation letter and said he would “continue to serve my country, my constituents and our party with determination and enthusiasm”.
Plaid Cymru announced that Llyr Gryffydd would take over as interim leader, after a meeting between members on Thursday morning. A new leader would be announced at some point in the summer, but the acting head would not be running for candidacy.
First Minister Mark Drakeford thanked Adam Price for the constructive way the Welsh government and Plaid Cymru had worked together, but said that discussions will now take place around the co-operative agreement between the party in light of the findings from the bullying report.
