More areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 even as typhoon Betty (international name: Mawar) further weakened while moving through the Philippine Sea east of Northern Luzon, the state weather bureau said late Sunday night, May 28.

Last spotted 570 kilometers (km) east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, Betty is packing maximum winds of 155 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 190 kph. It is moving 10 kph.
