Jane Fonda veered off script at the Cannes Film Festival when she lobbed the Palme d’Or at the winning director.

The 85-year-old A-lister was presenting the award to French director Justine Triet for her thriller Anatomy Of A Fall – a film that tells the story of a woman accused of murdering her husband.

After Justine accepted the award and stepped down from the podium, she accidentally left her scroll lying on the lectern.

In a hilarious turn of events that took the internet by storm, Jane hurried to grab the director’s attention.
