Tropical cyclone Chedeng (international name: “Guchol”) intensified into a typhoon as it moves northwestward over the Philippine Sea, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday afternoon, June 8.
PAGASA said Chedeng is not expected to make landfall and may leave the country’s area of responsibility on Monday, June 12.
However, it may enhance the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” by weekend.
