On June 15, Cyclone Biparjoy made landfall in Gujarat’s coastal areas. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) in its last bulletin said that the cyclone will move northeastwards and weaken into a depression on June 16 evening. Reportedly, nearly 22 people were injured in Gujarat when the cyclone hit the coastal areas in the state. Heavy rainfall will continue in Saurashtra and Kutch till June 16. Extremely heavy rainfall is likely in Rajasthan on June 16 and 17, Dr M Mohapatra, IMD chief said. PM Modi spoke to Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel and took stock of the situation.
