said that over half of Americans surveyed said
they have faced online harassment and hate. .

The fifth survey of its kind revealed that reports
of online harassment have increased over the last
12 months across almost every demographic.

urged tech and social media platforms to
increase efforts to tackle online hate.
Due to the recent proliferation
of extreme anti-transgender legislation
and rhetoric, ADL sampled transgender
individuals separately this year, Anti-Defamation League, via NBC.
YouGov, a public opinion and data analytics
firm, conducted the survey from March 7
through April 6 on behalf of the ADL.
NBC reports that the survey, which included 2,139 adults
and 550 teenagers, oversampled respondents who
identified as a minority or as LGBTQ.
