Health leaders have warned of severe disruption to NHS services after thousands of consultants began a 48-hour strike over pay.Thousands of consultant doctors and hospital-based dentists in the British Medical Association (BMA) walked out from 7am on Thursday, bringing routine care “to a virtual standstill”.
