Kiril Orlov's field hospital stands in a ghost town near Bakhmut. Inside, military medics are busy at work, urgently tending to wounded Ukrainian reconnaissance soldiers whose mission took a turn for the worse. "If we do our job quickly and if the evacuation car can get him to us fast, then we are able to reduce the time between injury and the point at which he gets to a normal hospital, a real surgery," says Orlov.
