The Dallas Cowboys are officially back in action this week after a long off season. The Cowboys will be hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars in their first preseason game on Saturday in AT&T Stadium. Kick off is at 4 P.M.
Preseason is fun for the young players to really show their talent in hopes of making the 53-man roster. There are some key young players to look out for in this game, it will be exciting to see how all of them do in the first preseason game.
Rookie Running Back Deuce Vaughn:
The rookie is the youngest cowboy on the team and at just 21-years-old and will see his first NFL game on Saturday. The young running back got a ton of social media attention after his NFL draft story when his father was the one to make the call and draft him to the Dallas Cowboys.
Everyone loves an underdog story and with Vaughn sitting at 5-foot-5 and 176 lbs. It will be interesting to see how he maneuvers through an NFL defense.
Vaughn racked up over 5,000 yards in play and 43 total touchdowns in three seasons at Kansas State.
The rookie had a great first training camp and went viral on Twitter for his speed and quickness throughout the camp. He is strong and tough but what will work for him is getting the defense to miss him as he flies by them.
Wide Receiver Jalen Tolbert :
The second year wide receiver Jalen Tolbert had an impressive second training camp. He looked like a completely different player from last season and he was open at camp about the hard work he did during the off season with his QB Dak Prescott and the newest WR to the team and vet Brandin Cooks.
Everyone is excited to see him step up and make some plays because everyone was so excited about him last year and he didn’t fulfill a lot of people’s hopes. If he can play some solid football that would give Dallas great depth at the WR position behind CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup, and Brandin Cooks.
Rookie Defensive Lineman Mazi Smith :
The first round draft pick out of the University of Michigan Mazi Smith will experience his first NFL game on Saturday and the excitement is real to see him against another team’s defense. Obviously everyone is excited to see Smith help with the run defense. Dallas was ranked 22nd in the league last year against the run.
While Smith helps with the run defense it would be awesome to see him create pass rush opportunities for himself and others.
