Nurse Lucy Letby “weaponised her craft to inflict harm, grief, and death” on the newborn babies she was supposed to care for, police have said.
At a press conference, after Letby was found guilty of the murder of seven newborn babies and the attempted murder of six others, police said her colleagues at the Countess of Chester Hospital had no idea a murderer was in their midst.
Pascale Jone from the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Lucy Letby was entrusted to protect some of the most vulnerable babies, little did those working alongside her know that there was a murderer in their midst.
“She weaponised her craft to inflict harm, grief, and death.”
