The government has launched an “immediate” inquiry following the conviction of Lucy Letby who was found guilty of murdering seven infants and attempting to murder six others as a neonatal nurse at Chester Hospital in Cheshire. Expressing his “deepest condolences” to the families affected, the secretary of state for health and social care, Steve Barclay, promised to “ensure the legal framework had the confidence of the families affected”.
