Two residents of the Indian state of Kerala have succumbed to the Nipah Virus.
As a result, the government has closed several schools, offices, and suspended public transportation services.
In addition to the two fatalities, three individuals have tested positive for the Nipah virus.
This is a rare and deadly virus, that originates from bats or pigs and damages the brain.
The Nipah Virus was first discovered in 1999, and the Kerala region has been battling it since 2018.
