Yes, you heard it right - the fairly new Palmetum was build on top of landfill and you would never ever guess it while walking through it. A place where used to be trash is now full of beautiful plants and yes you will mostly seeing palm trees from all over the world, hence the name of this lovely garden.

This waterfront area must have been a rough place back in the day, the nearby refinery can give you a clue how it used to look like not too long ago. But let's direct the view to more beautiful things, like the auditorium designed by Calatrava on the opposite side!
