Hezbollah again destroyed an Israeli Merkava tank using the Kornet ATGM.
On the Lebanese-Israeli border, Hezbollah's anti-tank crew used the Kornet anti-tank missile system to destroy an Israeli Merkava Mk.4 main battle tank. The blow was struck at a distance of about 1250 meters into the side projection of the tank's turret. This is the ninth tank destroyed by the Hamas and Hezbollah groups in ten days since the start of the Israeli war, and the vast majority of combat vehicles were destroyed by the Kornet ATGM.
The main focus of the experts was on the high carelessness of the actions of the Merkava crew. The tank was spotted in an open position, which made it easy for the enemy to detect and hit it, despite its powerful armor and modern defense systems.
In addition, there was a lack of activation of the 'Trophy' active protection system installed on the tank. It is assumed that the EL/M-2133 radar, which is part of the KAZ, could have been obscured by tree crowns, which led to the system being inoperable at a critical moment.
