On Tuesday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stated that the opposition I.N.D.I.A alliance represents a larger portion, accounting for 60% of the country, surpassing the BJP. He made these remarks while speaking to the press in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, which is currently preparing for upcoming elections. Gandhi emphasized that the opposition alliance is committed to safeguarding the 'idea of India,' which entails preserving its core values, constitutional principles, and the freedom of all people, regardless of their religion or culture, to express themselves and coexist harmoniously.
He criticized the BJP and its ideological parent organization, the RSS, by highlighting their differing vision for the nation. Gandhi pointed out that the RSS believes in a single ideology and organization governing India, a perspective that he and his alliance firmly oppose. They advocate for decentralization, while the BJP prefers that all decisions be made in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi also claimed that the Congress party played a significant role in establishing the country and has a track record of protecting its foundational principles, in contrast to the BJP's alleged attempt to dominate the entire institutional framework of the nation.
Gandhi further expressed concern about various Northeastern states facing challenges from the BJP and RSS, which he believes threaten the core religious beliefs of the people. He delivered these remarks in the context of the upcoming elections for the 40-member Mizoram Assembly, scheduled for November 7th.
