One of the new Independent Senators told the Senate on Monday that "at this point" this country "could agree permission is not needed to deal with crime."

Independent Senator Helon Francis spoke on the matter as he suggested that Port of Spain be made the nation's entertainment hub for the local tourism industry.

However, he said this cannot happen until the State deals with the challenge of violent crime.
