Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, will offer a subscription plan in Europe to comply with EU regulations. The plans, priced at 9.99 euros for web users and 12.99 euros for iOS and Android users, will allow users to access the platforms without advertisements. Offering an ad-free paid option may lead users to opt for the free ad-supported version, helping Meta comply without affecting its ad business. Meta was previously fined €390 million by Irish regulators for how it used personal data and targeted ads. It now plans to ask for consent before allowing businesses to target ads.
