Amazon laid off workers from its Prime Video and MGM Studios divisions this week, affecting hundreds of roles. However, internal Amazon messages suggest the layoffs were more widespread than just those divisions and included roles in Amazon Pay and marketing. Some Amazon Pay employees received emails telling them not to come to work and that layoffs had begun on Tuesday. Marketing roles were also cut separately from the Prime Video and Twitch layoffs. An Amazon spokesperson confirmed roles in Amazon Pay account management, solutions architecture, and sales were eliminated.
