In Sonora, Mexico, a violent clash resulted in the death of at least 12 suspected criminals during an attempt to rescue the son of a cartel hitman. The armed group targeted the detained son, Carlos Humberto, affiliated with a Sinaloa Cartel faction. Two security officials were injured but are in stable condition.
