Drew McKissick will step down as co-chair of the Republican National Committee next month, paving the way for Donald Trump to install new loyalists as RNC leaders. McKissick will continue as chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party. His tenure as RNC co-chair was far shorter than SC GOP chair, which he's held since 2017. McKissick was elected RNC co-chair in January 2023 over Trump's choice, despite Trump's endorsement. Trump had expressed dissatisfaction with RNC leadership and floated replacing them.
