BMW will initially sell the X2 in two US versions.
BMW recently held an international media launch for the 2024 X2 in Lisbon, Portugal, and generously released almost 200 new images of the crossover coupe. Time will tell whether these photos will be enough to convince consumers of the vehicle's unusual exterior design.
Of the two X2 models on display, you'll probably notice the high-performance X2 M35i first. It is painted a color called Frozen Tampa Bay Green; Although we don't expect many BMW buyers to choose this colour, it certainly makes a dramatic statement.
There are various black elements on the exterior, including the front grille, air intakes and part of the bumper, contrasting with the green paint. It is also equipped with black side mirrors and unique wheels with black and silver elements.
The Brooklyn Gray model is the iX2 xDrive30. It's very similar to combustion engine-powered models, and xDrive30 is the only configuration in which the iX2 is available. It features electric motors on both the front and rear axles, delivering a total of 309 hp and 364 lb-ft (494 Nm). of torque allows it to reach 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 km/h.
It is a 64.8 kWh battery pack that powers two motors. BMW says the iX2 xDrive30 can travel between 259 miles and 279 miles (417 km – 449 km) on a single charge. Unfortunately for US buyers, the iX2 will not be sold locally.
Two versions of the combustion version are available in the United States. The first is the xDrive28i, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 241 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving all four wheels. The X2 M35i raises the performance bar with 312 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) from its 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
In the US, pricing for the X2 xDrive28i starts at $42,995, while the more powerful M35i starts at $52,395. Both MSRPs include a $995 destination charge.
