On May 7, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Bengali polymath, Rabindranath Tagore on his 163rd birth anniversary. PM Modi said, “His enduring wisdom and genius continue to inspire and enlighten innumerable people across generations.” West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also paid tribute to Tagore. Rabindranath Tagore was born on May 8, 1861. He was a Bengali Brahmin from Calcutta. Rabindranath Tagore received the first Nobel Prize in literature in 1913 for Gitanjali.
