Crews detonated explosives on Monday to break apart a large remaining span of the collapsed Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore that was sitting on top of a grounded container ship. The Dali has been stuck since March 26th when it crashed into a support column under the bridge, killing 6 construction workers. Freeing the ship will ultimately allow it to be refloated and moved, restoring traffic to Baltimore's busy port and relieving thousands of dockworkers, truckers, and business owners. Officials said the detonation went as planned, and crews will now assess any remaining debris before refloating the Dali in the next few days.
