Jeremy Corbyn has confirmed that he will stand as an independent candidate in this year’s general election. The former Labour leader will contest the Islington North seat, which he has held since 1983, on July 4th. The decision means that Mr Corbyn has been expelled from the Labour Party, which he joined 50 years ago. Announcing the news to the Islington Tribune, he vowed to be a “voice for equality, democracy and peace”. Report by Bangurak.
